Sponsor vocational training for poor young women - Single donation, INR 100
 Mail

Protsahan provides training to underprivileged young girls and women in Cutting & Tailoring (Basic & Advance), Embroidery and Government Certification courses in C&T as per the guidelines given by the DGET (Directorate General of Education and Training) at Kamalini Vocational Training Centre for Women.

How It Works

• A survey is conducted to mark out urban villages consisting of a sizeable population below a certain income level.
• The women who are underprivileged and seem capable of learning and earning are chosen as potential beneficiaries.
• The beneficiaries identified are further screened on the basis of the economic status (family income versus the number of dependents) and the need to fill the gap.

• The duration for each course varies from 3-6 months depending on the level of skill being taught at any given point of time.
• At the end of the term, an examination is held to determine their knowledge and understanding of the programme and the skills being taught and their results are declared accordingly.
• The project is executed at various stages with people being involved in promoting, taking charge of admissions, handling student training, administration and accounts.
• Besides the ongoing training, short term sessions / life skill workshops are organized for the students to improvise their skills and upgrade their overall knowledge and understanding of various vocations.
The Statistics

• The classes are held in batches - 16 batches of 3 months course and 8 batches of 6 months course per year.
• Each batch consists of 8-10 students with one instructor training them.

Story of Sunita
Sunita has studied up to Grade 8 & did not have any additional skills to take up any occupation and earn for her livelihood. She lived in a small rented room in Kishangarh with her husband and two children (5 and 10 years old). Her husband is an agent for an insurance company and his earning are very less depending on the commissions earned on whatever policies he is able to get done by people. The family faced problems in terms of finances and better education for the children.
Sunita joined the Cutting & Tailoring under TECOS at Kamalini Kishangarh centre on April 2012 and gradually found a drastic change in her life within a year. She completed the two levels of the course and had her hands on stitching with nearly perfect finishing. She learnt to interact with people around her and gained self-confidence during these learning days. She started practicing stitching at home from whatever she learnt from Kamalini classes and gave different design patterns to the clothes.
After completing the two levels of the course, she started stitching clothes at home and attaining customers who appreciated her work. Her dream of providing a better future to her children seemed to get a shape as her income helped in carrying out her household expenses. She was able to send her children for good quality education. In July 2013, she completed the third level of the course and is giving full time to her tailoring profession. She earns about 6000-7000 per month and claims that her family is now in a better off condition.
