" Overview

Gram Vikas Trust (GVT) is a National Level Organization established by the Krishak Bharti Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) with the support of Government of India and Department for International Development (DFID), UK. GVT was started as a division of KRIBHCO to look after Eastern India Rainfed Projects (EIRFP) and Western India Rainfed Projects (WIRFP) in some states by forming several clusters in tribal areas for the upliftment of the tribals. However, with the passage of time, from 2010 onwards, GVT not only diversified its activities, but also its geographical presence. It started some new initiatives and activities in line with its mission and vision like undertaking skill development of rural youth in various trades, having good job opportunities in business houses, agri-business, market linkages to rural handicraft artisans etc.

The Basics

Gram Vikas Trust (GVT) firmly believes in the concept of a second chance. Every individual deserves a second chance to grow and improvise on their past. To provide another chance to all those seeking to let go their past and strive for a better future, GVT has developed various projects. These projects cater to a variety of individuals, whether rural or urban or school dropouts.

How It Works

• Gram Vikas Trust focuses on school dropouts residing in slums & rural areas who are in need of vocational training in order to upgrade their present and look forward to a better future.
• From the main Vocational Training Centre at Bharuch, the project has now grown and includes a couple of centres and camp projects across the villages.

• 2 – Number of Vocational Training Centres run by GVT

Camp training gives hope to Kanchan
Kanchanben Mohanbhai Rathod resides in Narnavi village of Vagra block of Bharuch district. She dropped out of school after Grade 7. Her parents are both agricultural labourers. She takes care of the home and does all the house work.
Gram Vikas Trust has identified 14 drop out children from Narnavi village and motivate them to enrolled in skill development training for the 3 month training course in Bharuch. Only four of them could enrol in our Bharuch vocational training centre due to the travel from Narnavi to Bharuch. Kanchan was one of them who wanted to enroll but was unable to for this reason. GVT decided to organize a training course in Narnavi village for 10 such girls. During the training Kanchan learnt how to sew blouses and under skirts
After attending the training camp Kanchan is now able to make blouse and chania but need more practice. GVT has provided her a sewing machine. Now Kanchan is earning Rs.2000 every month. She can now support the high school education of her younger brother
