Overview

Rajasthan Mahila Kalyan Mandal Sanstha (RMKM) runs Daksha VocationalTraining Centre for the disabled and the mentally challenged children/ adults in its campus in the Chachivyas village of Ajmer, Rajasthan.

The Basics

The objective of RMKM is to train the disabled adult and mentally challenged children/adults in order to make them self sufficient and to help them become a part of the mainstream society.

How It Works

• The Training Centre was supported by Vibha Inc., U.S.A. in terms of paying salary to the vocational trainers, providing funds for raw materials and conveyance of the participants.
• At present, the centre is being run with the help public and individual donations.
• The vocational unit of RMKM has a wooden unit, a stationary unit, a deco unit, and a vermi compost unit.

Trainee to Become a Vocational Teacher
Sanwara is 24 years old, physically challenged. Both of his legs are not in working condition. But he had self confidence to do something for the betterment of the life. After he passed 8th class he joined RMKM as a trainee. When he joined the organization he did not know anything to do.
RMKM identified his skills and involved him in wooden unit because he can do work only with hands. In Wooden unit (under Vocational unit) he is providing regular training to the other disabled as well as mentally challenged children/adult. He teaches different methods of training to other trainees like use of jigsaw machine, different type of cutter, drill machine etc.
Now Sanwara is a Vocational Teacher in wooden unit in RMKM. He has lot of confidence to do everything in wooden unit. He can make design on wood with the help of jigsaw machine .He can cut wooden products with iron blades. Now he is a master trainer of vocational students. He can make different type of TLMs, Wooden Lamps, coaster box, Pen stand, photo frame etc.
