Bridge the long distnace between a poor girl and her school by gifting a bicycle, INR 4000

In a majority of the remote villages of India, girls have to travel long distances (7 km) to and from school. Action for Development of Demos (ADD) provides school- going girls with bicycles enabling them to travel to and from school independently and with ease.

How it Works

• ADD refers to the list of people below the poverty line and selects girls studying in 6th through 8th standard.
• They further get help from local ADD volunteers to identify other girls based on their economic status and include them in the list.
• The final list of potential beneficiaries is compiled by cross- referencing it with the school’s academic records.
• ADD purchases new AVON bicycles and distributes them to the selected beneficiaries.

The Statistics

• Every year 50- 55 girls have been identified as potential beneficiaries and supported.

I too want to study
Shushma Kumari, 16 year belongs to an extremely poor village Shigriyama, P.S - Sajahapur, Patna. Her father is a Carpenter and due to lack of resources is living in a rented house. Her family is a big nine member family. She has 7 brothers and a sister and one brother is dumb and Sushma was the most intelligent and determined towards her studies. This can be very well understood that she daily used to cover 5 km up and down journey to school on her foot. Currently she is in grade 11 at Shri Raghunath Balika Uchh Vidyalaya, Kankarbagh Patna and she wishes to continue up her studies neglecting the very long challenging 5 kilometers way that she daily uses to cover on her foot
When ADD fortunately came to know about the poor girl, it provided her with a new Avon bicycle (bicycle no.10B.701689) under its Bicycle Support For Poor School-going Girls program.
With this kind support she is now attending her school regularly without any delay. ADD wishes her a very successful bright future.
