Encourage a poor tribal child to attend school by feeding him/her at school for a year, INR 6800

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) is a Bhubaneshwar, Odisha based institute. Its aim is to liberate underprivileged tribal children still struggling to come out of the bondage of ignorance and illiteracy. The illiteracy problem is further compounded by the high dropout rate and low participation in higher education. Other problems like delinquency, child labor and exploitation, child marriages, ill-health, unemployment, etc. are always on a rise due to lack of education and employment opportunities. To overcome these problems, the KISS was founded in 1993. Its main objective is to develop into a centre of learning for the poorest of the poor sections of the society with a focus on formal and livelihood education and scope for all-round development. Today KISS is the largest residential institute for the tribals in the world, providing accommodation, food, health care, education from kindergarten to post graduation, vocational training and all other basic amenities of life absolutely free with a job after completion of education. KISS has reached out to 20,000 children from 62 tribes of Odisha. This donation option will support the mid-day meals at school of 1 poor tribal child for a year.

Food for All !!!
All the students who have come to the institute are from poor, backward tribal areas. The basic necessities of life including food, health services, education, etc. are difficult to access. Due to non availability of food and especially nutritious food; malnutrition and other diseases related to food scarcity / non-availability of food are on a rise.
Subash Mirdha, a student of Grade. VIII at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, hails from Bargarh district of Orissa. His parents have to struggle hard to meet the requirements of the large family. In such situations, some essential basic requirements of life including education, nutritional food, etc. take a back seat. The life of Subash Mirdha is not any different. He alongwith his family have to struggle hard to meet the basic essentials of life. Subash got a new lease of life after coming to Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. Along with basic education requirements, Subash also gets nutritional food (for breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner) and an exposure to various extra curricular activities including vocational training. Additional nutritional supplements are also provided to students as and when required by them.
After our intervention, the lives of these tribal students have changed to a large extent. Along with education, they are provided with free food, health services and other basic amenities of life. They have been given the exposure for all round development. They have brought marvels not only to the institute but the state and the nation as a whole in various fields.
