Help a distressed woman by sponsoring monthly rehabiliation expenses, INR 1275

Swadhar has started a family counseling centre to help women in distress.

How It Works

• Cases are referred to Swadhar by the family or civil court or by the police department.
• Depending upon the requirement, counselling, financial, legal, and educational aid is provided to these women.
• The women are helped for at least a year till they are able to manage on their own.
• When a needy woman approaches the organization, family background and other details are collected and based on that, she is informed if she can be helped by Swadhar.
• According to her needs, she is provided counselling through successive sessions, and given financial help.
• Her family is encouraged to participate in solving her problem.
• If required, the family members are counselled to improve the domestic environment.
• In case her husband suffers from an addiction, he is counselled and encouraged to go for a de-addiction program.
• Consecutive sessions are conducted to monitor the progress of the family.
• After successful resolution of the problem, the couple is asked to come to the centre every month, for some time for a check on their domestic progress.
• A follow-up record is maintained for at least a year.
• Funds are provided partly by the Central Social Welfare Board, and partly from private donations.
• Counselling helps overcome domestic problems, and individuals are encouraged to sort out their differences.
• Financial aid helps take care of their daily and monthly needs.

Rehabilitation of a woman
The lady was married fifteen years ago and had suffered physical and mental torture by husband. Her husband deserted her and her two children (a fourteen year old daughter and a ten year old son), eight years ago, and is untraceable till date. He is absconding. She has been provided a room to live at her current place of employment, where she prepares around 1000 rotis per day in two batches. She approached the police department to trace her husband, but to no avail. So she now wishes to apply for a divorce.
Our organisation provided financial support for her legal charges and educational support for her children. Our social worker helped her obtain her marriage registration certificate, file the application with the Police Department to trace her husband, get medical aid for her daughter who met with an accident. She was counselled, and encouraged to continue living her life with dignity, despite her misfortune.
She is living her life in a dignified way, and taking care of her two children on her own. Her children are able to continue their education, and also pursue their hobbies with the support from Swadhar. We encourage them to learn something or study further to become independent and we help them financially if anyone wants to study further.
