Overview
The Association of People with Disability (APD) is a Bangalore based organization that is working on the comprehensive rehabilitation of economically marginalized people with disabilities. It works for children, youth and adults with various types of disabilities - primarily those with physical disability, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, development delay, and speech and multiple disabilities. Through grassroots rural and urban community programmes that include therapeutic services, mobility aids, integrated education, advocacy and livelihood training, APD has transformed the lives of several persons with disability.
The Basics
Periodic therapy is absolutely essential for people with disability. This includes physiotherapy, psychotherapy, speech and occupational therapy. APD's Therapy division focuses on an integrated therapy approach that is geared to help beneficiaries achieve independent mobility and functional ability to their fullest potential.
How It Works
• Once therapy is done these people can either pursue education or a career.
• APD engages specialists to conduct these therapies.
• This donation option can help support the expenses involved in providing therapy to a child with disability for one month.
