Sponsor education and living expenses of a poor tribal girl child at a residential school for a month, INR 1750

Vidhayak Sansad s residential school provides comprehensive education to girls who would otherwise have limited or no access to schooling. In all of Thane district (i.e. where Vidhayak Sansad s residential school is based), there is only one Government-run primary residential school and two secondary residential schools exclusively for girls. Currently, the school houses 236 girls aged 6-16 years, from the Katkari tribe. The Katkari have been designated as a particularly vulnerable tribal group. The literacy rate of their women is only 3 percent. Many girls who are now enrolled here were working as child laborers on brick kiln sites. The girls not only study here; but also learn various skills like singing, dancing, painting, karate, and computers. The school currently conducts classes from standard 1 to 8. Girls who have passed grade 7 are enrolled into the nearest high school, which is approximately 2 kms away from the campus. The aim is to impart education upto class 10. However, all girls reside at Vidhayak Sansad s hostel. This donation will be used to sponsor food and living expenses for these 236 girls.

Pooja- A role model
Pooja is a girl from the Katakri tribe. She lost her parents when she was in Grade 2. She had to leave the school and was living with her old grandmother. She was the first generation learner from her family
Our volunteer working in the same village came to know about her. He brought her to our residential school. She started staying in the hostel since 2002 and once again started her education. We took care of her residential as well as educational expenses
Pooja is now studying in Grade 10. She is good in drama, music and sports. She is now a role model of our school. She wants to be a leader in future who can bring change in lives of tribal and deprived people. Vidhayak sansad has taken her entire responsibility, she wants to take higher education and our organization is always their with her.
