Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) is committed to encouraging the education of girls and works towards dissuading girls from dropping out, by providing the help and support they require to continue their education.

How It Works

• NBJK's field workers identify girls studying in village Government schools, who either have to drop out or wish to study in better schools, but cannot afford to due to their family’s economic conditions.
• 70% of the girls drop out from the school after primary education (i.e. Grade V), either due to of lack of encouragement from parents or high education costs.
• They are also forced to marry at an early age, if they choose not to or cannot afford to study.
• NBJK motivates such girls and convinces their parents to enroll them in schools near their villages.
• A written agreement is taken from their guardian not to marry off their daughters before completion of education till class 10 (age 18), which has proved to be very effective.
• Manager level staff then meets these parents to determine their economic condition. • The students usually live in kuchcha houses and their parents earn less than Rs. 35,000 per year.
• Once the parents agree, the Principals of private schools are approached for new enrolments.
• After enrolment, study material, school dresses and fees are paid for the beneficiaries.
