The mission of NASEOH(National Society for Equal Opportunities for the Handicapped) is to enrich the lives of differentl-abled persons and develop a world of equal opportunities. As one of its core activities, NASEOH runs a Vocational Training Center for imparting a vocational skill development program for people with disabilities.

The Basics

The key objective of the training programme is to ensure employment for the differently-abled people, thereby providing them a means to earn a livelihood and gain economic independence.

How It Works

• The current tradesin which training is offered at the vocational training centre are "pottery & ceramics, welding & fabrication, gardening & landscaping, paper craft, tailoring & embroidery, electronic assembly, computers, screen printing, bakery & confectionery, and candle making etc.." . • Training is also provided to improve the communication skills of these students.
• The beneficiaries seeking admission to this training program are screened and assessed with the help of social workers, paramedical professionals, medical professionals, trade instructors etc. and a training program most suitable to the individual (beneficiary) is decided upon.
• The training is imparted in the chosen trade and the beneficiaries’ progress is evaluated periodically via case conferences, medical and paramedical evaluation, practical tests, etc.
• After the training, placement support is also extended either by way of employment in a firm or through self-employment.
• Training provided to the beneficiary is completely free of charge.

• 2 years – Duration of the programme for physically challenged and speech and hearing impaired students in most trades
• 4 years – Duration of the programme for mentally challenged students depending on their ability to absorb what is taught in the programme
• 18-40 years – Age-group of the individuals undergoing the training programme
• 175 – Average number of people with disabilities who are being trained at any given point
