Post natal care is critical for the well-being of both the mother and child. However it is not affordable for many mothers from families that are below the poverty line. Action for Development of Demos (ADD) is committed to provide the necessary post-natal healthcare and nutrition support for the first 3- months, which is by far the most critical period for both mother and the new born child
The Basics
During the first 3 months after delivery it is very important to provide the mothers with a balanced diet and for them to have regular medical checkups. ADD helps these mothers avail these facilities through their programme.
How It Works
• ADD refers to the list of people below the poverty line and selects mothers that are in dire need of financial support.
• They further get help from local ADD volunteers to identify other mothers based on their economic status and include them in the list.
• The financial and nutritional support includes coupons for the purchase of vegetables, milk and Proteinex powder. It also includes the cost of medication and the fee for Gynecologists, Pediatricians and Sevikas.
• These utilities are delivered to the women’s homes.
The Statistics
About 40 - 50 women and their children are part of ADD's post natal help programme every year.
