Educate a girl child in an integrated environment - Single donation, INR 100

" Overview

Kidpower supports poor girl children and disabled children through a network of schools catering to slum children in Visakhapatnam. This support is given as and when Kidpower receives funding for it.

How It Works

• Kidpower along with the school management identifies a few children who might drop out of school or are unable to pay the fees because of their poor financial situation.
• Once funding is received, Kidpower staff or volunteers visit the home of the child to ascertain the family situation and the need.
• Then Kidpower pays the school fees directly to the school (a copy of the receipt is given to the parents).
• The school uniform, books, bag, etc. are handed over to the children in school.
• Since these children are already in school, the NGO’s only condition is that the parents not pull them out of school mid-year.
• They usually try and support the same child year after year depending on the number of donations that come in.
• The school provides a volunteer to assist Kidpower staff.
• The school volunteer prepares an initial list and gives it to the staff of Kidpower.
• The educational material is purchased from a central market and brought to Kidpower office.
• It is organized in bags and provided to the children.
• Kidpower has tied up with a tailor who will visit the school, take measurements and deliver the uniform at school.
• Kidpower pays him for the uniforms.
• The staff make regular visits to the school and home to ensure that the child does not drop out of school and is motivated to do well.

How It Works

• 10-12 – Number of children supported by Kidpower through this programme
