Educate a girl child for a year, INR 3000

Tropical Research & Development Centre’s (TRDC) Asha Kiran project focuses on enrollment, retention, quality education and child rights in rural Government schools in Ranibennur Taluk, Haveri District, Karnataka.

How It Works

• One of its aims is to support dropouts and children with learning difficulties through its 75 bridge/remedial education centres for children from poor families.
• This helps ensure that children with learning difficulties get enough support in their learning process and do not drop out of mainstream education because of financial or other reasons.
• Girl children usually drop out because of family pressures, after completing Grade VII.
• In order to support their education at least up to the Grade X, TRDC provides them with the items of this donation.
• This initiative is implemented with the help of field staff and volunteers in Ranibennur, in collaboration with primary school teachers and community leaders who identify genuine beneficiaries.
• The items are provided for a year so as to motivate the girls to continue their secondary education.

The Statistics

• Currently, TRDC works in 63 villages of Ranibennur taluk.
• The NGO plans to support girl children's secondary education so that enrollment of girl children will improve and dropouts will reduce to less than 5%.
