Sponsor the Mid-day meal for a child in a Govt school for 6 months, INR 900

In the underprivileged areas, where non government supported schools provide education, the children tend to drop out because of hunger and the need to then take care of this hunger by doing child labour such as house work, washing taxis etc. This program of providing mid day meal is to prevent drop outs/increase attention and concentration span, check malnutrition and anaemia. Resources are obtained by communicating our needs to the donors. The benefit is provided by obtaining cooked meals from the vendors and this is supplied to the children at school. The cost of the mid-day meal it keeps revising every year. We started with Rs 5.50 and now it is 7. Depending on inflation and cost to our vendor it is fixed. Yes we have a fixed vendor. No one can study Hungry
Suhani wasn’t regular in School. Her attendance in class was 50%. She was not provided nutritious meal from home. She was a needy child though bright in studies but weak in health. It was impossible to study hungry. Atleast one time meal needs to be provided for malnourishment and nutrition.
This student was not able to go to school as there was no food to eat at home. She was very weak, malnourished and suffered from lack of nutrition. We started this mid day meal program at Dnyan Sadhana School to provide nutrition to the kids so that she and other kids like her have atleast one nutritious meal a day. Every day she gets meal in the afternoon at the school. She relishes the food. It is served hot, everyday one different item of menu is served and once in a week one sweet is also served as per the demand of the students.
Suhani’s regularity in the school increased. Her grasping power improved; there was improvement in her attention span also. Now she do not have to work to earn her meal.
