Education is a means to success. But nowadays it is difficult for poor and backward people to educate their children or provide necessary educational materials. Cost of stationery items are increasing day by day. In this situation poor families cannot afford these materials.
The Basics
Children from these families are suffering from inferiority complex. They start stealing notebooks, pens etc from others children bags. Some children have only rough notes and never get an opportunity to write the lessons in new notebooks. Students cannot get good marks though they are capable as they lose the rough work written. Some children drop out of school in the middle. Children end up just 3 notebooks for all 6 subjects. Few parents are able to purchase very low quality note books for their children and few parents can buy only the necessary, basic note books. The add-ons like map, graph and practical note books are not in their reach.
How it works
To overcome this MANUVIKASA started giving all the basic notebooks needed to poor children. Children from high school and higher secondary get 200 pages king size 5 note books. Cost of king size note book is about Rs. 24/-. The goal of NGO is to help poor children to continue their education so that their parents can spend money on map, graph and practical note books instead of basic note books.
The students are studying in Higher primary and secondary schools. These schools are government and aided schools. The distribution happens from May to February every year. Government provides notebooks only for SC and ST students and the rest who are underprivileged are left out.
