Sponsor the monthly stipend for a parent helping out as support staff for mentally challenged children, INR 1500

Adarsh is a rehabilitation centre for children with physical and mental disabilities.

How It Works

• All the children who come to the institute are accompanied by their parents. The presence of the parents depends on the training programmes.
• There are some children who are quite independent and who don’t require the assistance of their parents for their basic needs. These parents collaborate with the staff and work at the institute on a part-time basis.
• They are appointed on the basis of their qualifications.
• These parents help the teacher in the classroom.
• They are paid on a monthly basis, irrespective of whether donations are received or not.

• 19 – Number of parents working as teacher assistants.

Jaya- A happy mother
Jaya Sony is the mother of a Cerebral Palsy child and used to be with her son during his time in school. She helped her son in the class room as well as in the therapy session. But majority of the time she was just sitting in the classroom without doing anything with her son.
We realized her capacity. She was appointed as a member of the Parent Support group and now assists in the speech therapy class. She can also assist in other areas like academic classes, occupational therapy classes and in socialisation activities.
Now she helps not only her son but also other children with challenges. More than that she now is now getting an income from this. She is happy, fully involved in her work, and is able to engage herself in a gainful occupation while attending to her son's needs.
