Overview
The Leprosy Mission Trust India works with individuals and communities disadvantaged by leprosy by addressing their physical, mental, social and spiritual needs to uphold human dignity and eradicate leprosy.
The Basics
Only a certain kind of footwear known as the Micro-cellular rubber insole footwear (MCR) is recommended for people affected by leprosy that takes care of their feet. However, it should be noted that it is important to check the shoes everyday to see if there are any damages. In case of any damage, the footwear needs to be replaced, as MCR footwear cannot be repaired. They are simply replaced with new ones.
How It Works
• TLMTI provides customized MCR footwear accessible to people affected by Leprosy across its hospitals.
• TLMTI also supplies this footwear to the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) across most of the states in India.
Statistics
• 14 – Total number of TLMTI hospitals
