Provide a hygiene kit for 10 orphan children, INR 2000

CSA works with children’s Homes in particular regions, namely, Maharashtra, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, and Goa. Their objective is to bring about overall improvements in terms of childcare, health and living standards.

The Basics

Members of CSA believe that inculcating good habits related to personal hygiene will not only help them to be healthy but will also help them feel confident. They further believe that a healthy mind in a healthy body will lead them to think progressively and achieve their goal.

How It Works

• Personal hygiene kits are provided to the children twice a year. Each kit includes a toothbrush, a tube of tooth paste, and bathing and washing soaps. • These products are purchased in bulk.
• The children in the orphanages come from lower income families with pathetic living conditions and are unaware of maintaining good hygiene. Hence, members of CSA focus on inculcating good health habits in childhood.
• Follow up health checkups, medicines and treatment are provided after a needs assessment is conducted.
• Health awareness programmes, like hand washing, self-awareness sessions for adolescent girls etc. are also conducted to help the children maintain personal hygiene.

• 6 – Number of sets of bathing soaps.
• 6 – Number of sets of washing soaps.

Poor vision led to poor performance
Ashwini is a small girl with normal body structure among 110 inmates from observation home for girls. She is 11 yrs. old girl. According to her teachers she is an average student. She had difficulty in reading books and her eyes watered due to the strain. During the health check up held by CSA, it was revealed that Ashwini has poor vision. This was one reason she used to feel lazy to read and write, because of which her studies were hampered. She did not realize the reason behind her poor performance in studies was her vision.
CSA referred Ashwini to eye specialist and after her general check up, who suggested that she is in need of spectacles urgently. CSA made arrangements for Ashwini to get the appropriate spectacles. Within a couple of months Ashwini started reading and writing with interest and showed improved performance in her academics year. She was soon, a normal kid and as playful and mischievous.
Ashwini now has learned that every organ in her body is very important and that she has to take care of her to maintain good health. She is using the personal kit provided by us and is very conscious about the cleanliness. She is now helping other girl inmates to use the personal hygiene kit.
