Mission/Vision
Empowerment of tribal population through education and training so as to bring a qualitative change in their live by ensuring their livlihood.

Background
Looking at the dismal scenario of the tribal education in Orissa, it was realized that education is the best way to empower the tribal people that constitute about one quarter of the total population of Orissa. It started in the year 1993 in a very small building with only a few students

Dr.Achyuta Samanta’s passion is to promote education among the poor and hitherto backward tribal children in the state and country at large in order to empower them and provide level playing field. He is a educationist by qualification and profession but in short span of 18 years he has developed KISS into a temple of learning for poor tribal children of Odisha and neighbouring states under free residential environment, with special emphasis on harnessing their vocational skills as part of the standard academic curriculum. According to him poverty breeds illiteracy and literacy eradicates poverty. Also giving education to the deprived is like giving eye sight to the blind.

 Lighting up young minds!
Most of the students are tribal and come from poor background. It was difficult for most of the students to have two square meals a day. Most of them were leading a wayward life completely ignorant of the outer world. Teacher Ms. Aliva Mohanty has created interest among students towards learning & uses play way method in her teachings. Apart from that the School has also been arranging different Orientation programme, refresher courses and Seminar from time to time. It has positive impact on teaching pattern and making her more competent in the field concerned. Exposure Visits organized by the School helps her to gain new ideas and thereby she offers more practical knowledge to the students. She wants more and more co operation and moral support from everyone to develop her professional proficiency as a teacher. Her active participation in extracurricular activities encourages the students. After our intervention, the lives of these tribal students have changed a lot. Now most of the students have been maintaining cleanliness. Their behaviour and expression of thought has changed. Instead of depending on other processes of healing they now prefer to visit the dispensary incase of illness. Some of them are also showing keen interest in sports and other activities. Some of them are also doing well in academics.
