Mission: To make human settlements an equitable living environment, where all residents and vulnerable people have access to basic needs for development like health, education, essential infrastructure services and livelihood options, irrespective of their economic and social status.
Saath was founded in 1989 and started its activities in health, education, savings and credit, etc. Saath believes in capacity and institution building for sustainable development.
Niraj Jani is the Executive Director of Saath. He holds an M.Tech in Planning from Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad and B. Arch from SCET Surat. He has worked with Gujarat Maritime Board, All India Institute of Local Self Government and CEPT Research and Development Unit. Earlier he was the Associate Director of Saath overlooking the Education and Housing projects.

1 Piyush Desai Mr. Piyush Desai serves as the Chairman and Managing Director at Gujarat Tea Processors And Packers Limited. Mr. Desai is a Tea maestro, tea tasting and evaluation expert and visionary in the Tea industry. He is instrumental in setting high standards of quality at Wagh Bakri Tea Group with deep knowledge and insights in the Tea industry. He serves as President of Western India Tea Dealers Association. He serves as the Chairman of the Federation of the All India Tea Traders Association (FAITTA). He has been Independent Director of DLX Ltd. since January 2016.
2 Rajendra Joshi Rajendra Joshi has initiated and developed the Integrated Slum Development Program. He has received the Schwab Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2009, NagriktaPuraskar in 2004, has been a finalist for Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2007; Listed amongst 50 Pioneers of Change by India Today in July 2008; is an Ashoka Fellow, September 2008; and was awarded the KarmaveerPuraskar, by iCONGO, as a Real Wealth Creator for the communities on the 26th November, 2008.
3 Gagan Sethi Mr Gagan Sethi is a Development educator and practicing Organizational Development expert and a Gender trainer. As founder of Janvikas, he has helped set up several strategic organizations in the country.. His professional expertise lies in Human and institutional development training and designing.
4 Gazala Paul Gazala Paul founded Samerth, an Ahmedabad based NGO to promote participatory development among marginalised and vulnerable communities. Her area of expertise has been on raising the awareness of educators about war and peace issues and conflict resolution strategies and to promote conflict resolution education in zones of conflict, educating for tolerance and reconciliation, and overcoming entrenched attitudes of prejudice and hatred, with required intensive efforts at a people-to-people level
5 Prabhat K Ghosh Mr.P K Ghosh is the current Chairperson of the Board. He is a retired IAS officer and has also been Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat and Ex-Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

 Livelihood Lifeline
Yadav Bhoomika is a student of Dariapur Umeed Centre (2nd batch). She is 18 years old. There are 4 family members in her family. She is living in Shahibag area of Ahmedabad. Her father is working as an operator in Fun Republic near Sarkhej Gandhinagar Highway earning Rs. 5000 per month and her mother is housewife. Her brother is studying in Grade 11. Her father is only an earning member of the family. Bhoomika has completed class 12th and due to long distance from her place to college she left her studies. Bhoomika was not clear about her future studies. She received a pamphlet during the road show, organized by Umeed and visited the Dariapur centre. She took admission in the course of Office Administration. She joined Umeed to learn something new in her life and wanted to stand on her own feet. The positive impact of the programme on her is that she can speak openly in front of people. She became aware about her potentials and built a strong desire to go for further studies. The training scheme also includes placement in jobs as part of its total programme. Hence the participant will be sure of getting placement after completion of the training. Currently she is working in Krishna Web Express- Reliance Communication as Customer Relation Executive. She is earning Rs.4000/- per month. Her dream is to be an air hostess. Her near future plan is to complete her bachelors and if she gets a chance she pursue higher studies in a well recognized institute.
 Lots of Dreams
Reshma (15) and Gulshan (10) are two sisters, residents of Juhapura area of Ahmedabad. Their family consists of their grandparents, their parents and 2 younger sisters. Reshma’s mother works as a housemaid. Reshma and Gulshan also work as housemaids. Her father does not work as he is a heart patient. It is a hand to mouth situation in the family. Both the sisters rely on their employer for food most days. Their joining the classes ensures that they get the additional nutrition supplement as well, every day. Through Firdosben, the teacher at Child Friendly Space, Reshma & Gulshan found out about the class. They got enrolled and attend it regularly. After 3 months, when it was time for admission, Gulshan, with the help of teacher got enrolled in Grade 4 in Municipality School at Juhapura. Gulshan now goes to school regularly. However, she has not stopped working. Reshma wants to study further. She is very active, regular and learns things quickly according to her teacher. She wants to become a teacher.
 Better support his family
Ganpatbhai of Behrampura lives with his wife and four children and is the sole bread earner of the family. He has been working as a helper under a skilled mason and earned Rs. 200 for a day’s hard labour which was not enough for his family. He learnt of the Nirman from the SAATH Road Mobilization Team. He immediately registered himself for the masonry batch. After registration he started coming regularly to the centre. After that he also received the tool kit from our programme at the end of the training. He explains: When I attended my first class I enjoyed it a lot, there was a free flow of knowledge between the trainer and us. I garnered skills on measuring, plastering, importance of saving, safety measurements and estimates. I would certainly recommend Nirman to the other members of my community His earnings have been enhanced by Rs. 100 per day; he now earns Rs. 300 for a day of labour and is now able to better support his family.
 Make a day special for migrant children
Mantassa Ayubhai Sheikh, called Alfeena with love at home, is 10 years old, is a resident of Ronakpark, Juhapura. She was left at the hospital by her real mother right after her birth and was then adopted by Kausar Shaikh. Her step father, Ayub Shaikh is a driver. Our Balghar teachers regularly met with parents in the area and when they met parents of Alfeena they expressed their concern regarding her behaviour. They told our Balghar tutors that Alfeena was stubborn and wasnot able to express herself properly. It was through the constant joint efforts of our Balghar tutors and her parents that helped her develop both mentally and physically. Balghar helped her change from a coy girl to a jovial child. Alfeena has a sharp mind and the practical learning at the Balghar has helped a lot in her development. She is currently in the third grade and is doing considerably well. I am very grateful to Balghar for making my daughter what she is today.
 Create employment opportunities
Amit Sejvani is 19 years old and he is living with his parents and 2 siblings. His father has a small business from which their family monthly income is Rs. 4,000. Amit came to know about Skills to Succeed – Digital Learning programme through one of the road show conducted by our team. He joined Retail Management course at Nadiad Centre. Along with the retail training he was also provided additional sessions in Computer Basics, Spoken English and Life Skills. After completion of the course he got a job at Surya Prakash Textile at Revdi bazaar Ahmedabad at salary of Rs 5,000/- per month. He is very satisfied with his job and at present along with the job he is running his own business from past 1 month in Nadiad.
