First Mobile Creche was set up in 1969 at a construction site in Delhi to provide basic care for children of migrant workers.Early Child care is a preventive strategy that enables the young child to blossom, older sibling to go to school & mother to work.
Ms. Sumitra Mishra, the Executive Director of Mobile Creches has Twenty years of work experience ranging from grassroots direct practice, rural, urban poor and urban contexts,programme delivery and partnerships, grant management, fund raising and communications, research & advocacy,and organisation development. She has a focus on development, establishing linkages between local resources, community embedded programmes and effectiveness measured in terms of poverty reduction and increased participation by stakeholders. She is Aligned to programmes of global and national frameworks - SDGs, RtE 10, National Policy statements.

 Ruby is a nomal weight child now
Ruby was born underweight and regularly suffered from acute diarrhoea. At 8 months, when she was brought to our day care centre in Gurgaon, she weighed only 5 kgs, a case of grade III malnutrition. Under the special diet, care, protection and the watchful eye of MC staff, she started to gain weight. Her mother, now, understands the difference that good nutrition and simple hygiene can make. Today, at 1 year 4 months, she weighs 8 kg, and is a “normal-weight” child! A study of under-3 children at our centres in 2006-07 revealed that of those who stayed with MC for 6 months, 71% either improved or retained their normal nutritional grades.
 Learning with a joy ride
Children at construction sites/slums have very little exposure to the world outside. The children are left to fend for themselves whilst parents elk out a living. They are busy with housework and are constantly battling squalor and poverty. 50 children from our daycare centres visited the National Rail Museum on 24th Oct. 2009. The children loved the train ride and the educational experience. Later they had their lunch at the park & played on the swings and slides. The children had a wonderful time. They got an opportunity to express themselves creatively and socialize with other children.This helped them to learn new things and aspire to a better life than that of their parents.
