To enhance the Socio-economic status of young underprivileged women by empowering them with self confidence and required skills to enable them to become independent and contribute to family and society.
Mr.M.K.Kumar, Chairman of Pierce Leslie India Ltd and a member of the Advisory Board of Paracor, with his passion for social work, conceived ANEW. The organisation was then set up in 1997, before the need for women empowerment was felt by society. A management committee was formed with Mrs. Lakshmi Kumar, wife of Mr. M.K.Kumar, as the first President.
Ms.Vinodini Sudhindran, a science graduate, has been with ANEW for several years. She is an ex-president of Soroptimist International of Chennai, and continues to be an active member of that organization. She managed the responsibilities of Secretary for several years with Dr. Annalakshmi. In the year 2013, she moved to her new role as the president of ANEW. She is responsible for executing office duties and ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization. She is also responsible for the Optometry and Car driving projects. She supports this cause as she believes empowering underprivileged women is a long-term solution rather than helping them with short-term benefits.
