 From Darkness to Light
Fareen, 11 yrs has 4 brothers and 2 sisters. From the very beginning Fareen showed interest in the studies but had no means to study. At a very young age Fareen lost her parents. Her mother died of tuberculosis and her father once left home for work and never returned. The grandparents divided the children among themselves and she came to live with her maternal grandmother with her 12 yr old brother. Empowering Minds school teacher noticed the interest of the child and admitted her to our school. At first she was reluctant and her grandmother was also apprehensive in sending her. But when we gave her uniform and books she was very happy. Her grandmother was also counselled to send Fareen as well as her brother to school daily. Fareen is regularly coming to school. But her brother comes as and when he feels like. She is a bright student, passed with 95% marks and stood 2nd in her Grade. She takes part in the co-curricular activities and participates in the school activities. Her grandmother is very grateful for finding a support for her educational needs.
