Isha Vidhya's English-medium schools provide high quality school education to rural children who cannot otherwise access or afford it. They adopt a nurturing & holistic approach to education, helping children realize their full potential.
Your donation will go 100% towards creating critical infrastructure like classrooms, furniture & fittings, academic learning materials, science lab equipments & digital contents for the 8 Isha Vidhya rural schools situated in Tamil Nadu, India.
What is the current state of Rural Education in India?
Despite considerable economic progress in India in the last couple of decades, poverty has continued to pervade rural areas. Children in rural areas have been denied access to proper education with schools lacking basic facilities, teachers being unmotivated and frequently absent. Even those who eventually make it through twelve years of schooling graduate lacking even basic skills, making it impossible to seek gainful employment or pursue higher education.
How can Isha Vidhya help improve the situation?
Education is the only ladder that we could provide to raise these underprivileged rural children out of poverty. For most of these children their only good meal of the day is at school. Many learn how to use a toilet and other aspects of personal hygiene only at school. The school transforms almost every aspect of a child's life & parental attitudes to education as well, while preserving and enhancing awareness of their local culture.
Isha Vidhya schools is also be a base to intervene in Govt. schools nearby to enhance the quality of education in these Govt. schools as well.
