Ashray Akruti works in the field of education of the hearing impaired.

How It Works

• The beneficiaries are identified through medical camps, referral by doctors or through the organization's website and articles in newspapers.
• A team of qualified staff cater to the special needs of the hearing impaired children.
• Students are taught through oral aural method of teaching, which combines speech, use of residual hearing and speech reading.
• The child is trained to use his/her hearing and develop expressive speech.
• Regular state syllabus is followed along with speech therapy and auditory training.
• Students from outside Hyderabad are provided residential facilities with wardens, caretakers and cooks to take utmost care (a bus is provided for transport between the school and the hostel).

Education & Accomodation for hearing impaired child
Samuel, age 12 years, was detected of Profound Hearing Loss at a very young age. His family belongs to West Godavi Distt of A.P. He went to a regular school but was not able to follow due to his hearing disability. His father is a teacher and mother is a housewife. He has 2 sisters who are non hearing impaired.
After he got enrolled in Ashray Akruti, he was administered with Intensive Speech and Audiotherapy. He has improved a lot in speech. He stays in the residential home provided by Ashray Akruti. Children who stay in residential home follow fixed study hours and we give special attention to children who are slow learners.
He is doing well in studies and is presently studying in std II. He is good at drawing and his favourite subject is Mathematics. He is active and very friendly with other children.
