Sponsor the fortnightly school expenses of a child of our home for orphans & children, INR 935

Sahaara’s “Mahima Children’s Home” is a shelter for parentless children and children whose parents are unable to look after them. The Home was started in July 1999 with only a couple of children.

The Basics

Easy, helpless victims of abuse and bad influences, these destitute children were desperately in need of a family. The Home was started with the aim of providing shelter to these homeless and desolate children, including street children and neglected slum children.

How It Works

• The home is a haven for quite a few boys, all of whom are either orphans or with terminally ill parents or children of trafficked women unable to care for them.
• Mahima provides these children with more than just their basic needs.
• Holistic rehabilitation is provided to fourteen children through a home environment with dedicated care-givers.
• Educated at an English- medium school, the energetic and talented boys actively participate and shine in sports and other extra-curricular activities; play lead roles in school dramas, bag awards and prizes; have been elected school leaders, sports captains; play the keyboard and sing in school.
• This donation will be used to provide them with good quality education.

• 2 – Number of children who were there when the Home was started
• 14 – Number of children living in the Home at present

Hope shines through
Rajesh hailed from one of the innumerable slums of Mumbai. As is true of most children therein, Rajesh was underprivileged and lived trapped in webs of disadvantage. He was illiterate with no scope and hope for access to education. Denied his basic right to education, his dreams and potential lay crippled.
Mahima Home has taken Rajesh into their care. The 2 house parents and the maid therein serve his needs in love. Mahima Home provides the right environment for him to develop holistically through a family environment, excellent accommodation and above all, access to English medium education. He also enjoys good clothing, wholesome nutrition, health care and emotional care.
Rajesh today has a secure family environment and English medium education that nourishes him and taps his talents. He is also faring well in academics in his school. He is a confident boy who enjoys making new friends and loves to play outdoor games. In fact, he has even won races in his school!
